The Haitian Revolution was one of the most successful salve revolts in history. As an example of its effects, freedom and independence were won by the Haitians, and aspects of the revolution that were fought for are still supported today. Webs of battles eventually led to the first nation in the Western world to be governed by those of African decent. Additionally, the revolution was a rejection of racism and colonialism, and it also foiled Napoleon's attempts to create a new world empire. Toussaint's goal of bettering the lives of Haitians was accomplished.
