The leader of the Haitian Revolution was Toussant L'ouverture. While there were other leaders and contributors such as André Rigaud and Jean-Jaques Dessalines, L'ouverture was the real hero of the revolution. L’ouverture aimed to make the nation a better place for all citizens, especially for those of colour. He was the most significant leader because he stood up for the idea that no one should be used for slavery, and this was the first modern nation to be governed by people of African decent.
